Dr. Burns also specializes in family and couple interpersonal relationships, assisting them in the development of effective listening and communication skills. Dr. Burns has extensive experience in working with couples adjusting to life stage developmental issues such as empty nest syndrome, thriving in retirement and the preservation of the elderly. Dr. Burns is currently pursuing specialization training in health psychology as it relates to stress induced disease and the immune system.

(2) teen and adult trauma survivors: sexual assault, domestic violence and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Originally trained in the Humanistic/Rogerian model of psychotherapy, Dr. LaFrance now practices primarily from an interpersonal perspective, applying the best research-based practices in modern psychology to her clients' presenting issues. Dr. LaFrance is also a trained EMDR practitioner.
